1. Murrieta Valley (8-0) — Whew! The holiday break came at just the right time for Coach Steve Tarabilda’s team following its two-point win over Elsinore in the final of the Nighthawk Classic.
LAST RANKED: No. 1.
LAST GAME: def. Elsinore 62-60 in the championship game of the Nighthawk Classic at Murrieta Valley HS on Saturday, Dec. 10.
NEXT TIPOFF: at Elsinore on TUESDAY.

2. La Verne Lutheran (5-1) — The Trojans were nipped by L.A. Section powerhouse Windward on Tuesday which, oddly enough, convinces us that Coach Eric Cooper’s freelance team in the real deal.
LAST RANKED: No. 9.
LAST GAME: lost 64-62 at Los Angeles Windward in a non-league game on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
NEXT TIPOFF: vs. Decatur (Ga.) Southwest DeKalb at the Chick-fil-A Classic at Columbia (S.C.) Richland Northeast HS.

3. Rancho Cucamonga Etiwanda (7-1) — The Eagles have won four straight following their loss to parochial powerhouse La Verne Lutheran early in the month. Coach Dave Kleckner’s group is favored at the Inland Empire Classic.
LAST RANKED: No. 3.
LAST GAME: def. Claremont 78-28 in pool play at the Inland Empire Classic on Thursday, Dec. 15.
NEXT TIPOFF: at Inland Empire Classic TONIGHT.

4. Fontana Summit (8-2) — The SkyHawks struggled against their first ranked opponent, losing to No. _ Etiwanda 76-51 last week. Since then, Devon Alexander and Co. are 3-0 heading into championship bracket play at the Inland Empire Classic.
LAST RANKED: No. 2.
LAST GAME: def. Pomona Garey 99-51 in pool play at the Inland Empire Classic on Thursday, Dec. 15.

5. Riverside North (5-0) — The Huskies edged out a win in their league opener behind 16 points and 13 rebounds from Dorian Butler. Coach Mike Bartee now takes his team up the coast for a heavy-duty tourney.
LAST RANKED: No. 10.
LAST GAME: def. Corona 66-65 in a Big VIII League game on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
NEXT TIPOFF: vs. Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard TODAY.

6. Rialto Eisenhower (3-2) — The Eagles may or may not have played Palmdale to close out The Tournament at Santa Monica HS. There’s no record of it on the interweb. Either way, they play No. 2 Etiwanda next.
LAST RANKED: No. 5.
LAST GAME: vs. Palmdale on Friday, Dec. 9, in quarterfinal game at The Tournament at Santa Monica HS.
NEXT TIPOFF: at No. 3 Rancho Cucamonga Etiwanda on WEDNESDAY.

7. Upland (7-1) — The Highlanders won the Charger Classic last, and opened up the Inland Empire Classic with a HUGE victory (103-37 over Pomona Garey) but lost by three to No. 4 Summit on Tuesday.
LAST RANKED: No. 6.
LAST GAME: def. Fullerton Sunny Hills 93-87 in pool play at the Inland Empire Classic on Thursday, Dec. 15.
NEXT TIPOFF: at Inland Empire Classic TONIGHT.

8. Riverside King (7-2) — The Wolves’ losses are by a combined total of five points. Seniors Brandon Peppinger (6-foot-8) and Julian Clark (6-6) clog the lane and play an inside-outside game with one of the best corps of SGs in the Inland Area.
LAST RANKED: Not Ranked.
LAST GAME: def. Corona Santiago 74-54 in a Big VIII League game on Thursday, Dec. 15.
NEXT TIPOFF: vs. Corona on Jan. 4, 2011.

9. La Verne Damien (7-1) — The Spartans gave tournament hosts Concord De La Salle all it could handle before falling late in the championship game. Since then, Coach Matt Dunn’s team is 3-0 at the Glendora Tournament.
LAST RANKED: No. 8.
LAST GAME: def. Industry Workman 61-46 at the Glendora Tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 14.
NEXT TIPOFF: vs. Chino Don Lugo TONIGHT.

10. Moreno Valley Rancho Verde (7-3) — The Mustangs have opened defense of their Inland Valley League title with consecutive wins over a couple of IVL tomato cans.
LAST RANKED: No. 7.
LAST GAME: def. MoVal Vista del Lago 55-46 in an Inland Valley League game on Thursday, Dec. 15.
NEXT GAME: vs. No. 6 Rialto Eisenhower on WEDNESDAY.
